William L. Jeffery

Director of Services / Counselor

Bill Jeffery has served as the Director of Services and counselor at CFCE since November 2011. He has spent most of his life in the Chenango County area. Bill is a graduate from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA with his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and his Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. Bill has his license as a Mental Health Counselor here in New York State. Bill considers himself to be a Christian counselor, and not merely a counselor who happens to be a Christian. As such, he hopes to be instrumental in the process of meeting the counseling needs of members of our diverse local population, including those who may desire more than mere human wisdom for solutions to their struggles, they desire instead God's infinite, absolute, eternal, and universal truths and wisdom for their life issues.

  • CFCE'S Approach

    Holistic and Individualistic

    The approach to counseling at CFCE is holistic. This means that necessary attention is given to the whole person, including the three aspects of personhood. These are the body, soul, and spirit. Any or all of these aspects may be involved in the issues that bring individuals to counseling. For this reason, each of these aspects will be included in all phases of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.

    The approach to counseling at CFCE is also individualistic. This means that the fact that no two people are exactly alike is given due consideration in every aspect of the therapeutic process. For this reason there is no "one-size-fits-all" or cookie-cutter counseling done here. Each client's therapy is tailored to their individual and unique personality, life experience, needs, and concerns.

  • CFCE'S Attitude

    God-Centered and God-Serving

    It is our hope that the counseling environment all clients experience at CFCE is the very best possible and the most likely to encourage the healing and growth you seek.

    For this reason, every effort is made to ensure that the counseling environment is characterized by the intelligence of God the Father (Proverbs 2:6), the attitude of God the Son (Philippians 2:5-8), the evidence of God the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and adherence to the "Golden Rule" (Luke 6:31).

CFCE Statement of Faith

CFCE is a biblical Christian counseling ministry. Biblical Christian counselors, by definition, are committed to the Old and New Testaments as the only authoritative rule of faith and practice. Both the faith and conduct of biblical Christian counselors, as well as their counseling theory and practice, are formed by the standards of Scripture.

These standards include:

1.    The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, authoritative, and sufficient Word of God consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments;

2.    There is one God, eternally existent in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;

3.    The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return to earth in power and glory;

4.    For the salvation of lost and sinful men, women, and children, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential;

5.    A person becomes justified by grace alone through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone;

6.    The present ministry of the indwelling Holy Spirit enables Christians to live a godly life;

7.    The resurrection of the saved unto eternal life, and the resurrection of the lost unto eternal damnation;

8.    The spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church.

Biblical Christian counselors perform their service as part of the ministry of the Christian church, embracing thereby the doctrines and values of historic, traditional, and orthodox Christianity.  They uphold and support the common bond of fellowship, faith, and unity as prescribed in the Scriptures and seek to establish a relationship between the counselee and a loving God within the framework of a local Christian church.  Biblical Christian counselors will always seek the approval, recognition, and oversight of their counseling ministry by their church and a spirit of cooperation and mutual support with local sister churches of like precious faith and activities that exhibit this spirit.

(Adapted from the 2013 Statement of Faith of the former National Association of Nouthetic Counselors, now the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors)

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will counsel you with my eye upon you."
